When district administration refused to uphold instructional neutrality, Allison partnered with the Liberty Justice Center to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against PPS. I cannot give my name at this time as I do not want to create problems for my child who currently attends Lewis, but I want to share that I am thankful for you speaking up. A lot of the ideological materials being pushed on our young children are completely inappropriate, and I hope something can be done about it. Thank you again.
I applaud your courage. My grandchildren are now home or private school students because of what PPS has become. We stopped playing at the local elementary playground years ago when they painted benches with political symbols and hung political signs. It has only gotten worse, but you and your children are worth the fight.
Your letters rationally outline issues that have made me uncomfortable for years. I know from one-on-one conversations that dozens of other parents share these exact concerns but feel intimidated into silence by district administrators.
Classroom walls should be for math, science, and history, not activist slogans. When teachers use instructional time to lecture elementary kids about social justice dogmas while basic reading proficiency continues to drop, the system is fundamentally broken.
The double standard in PPS is staggering. One specific set of political beliefs is endorsed, celebrated, and displayed on every wall, while any dissenting view is labeled as hate speech. Public schools belong to everyone, not just political activists.
Finding out that school staff are instructed to conceal gender transition plans from parents was the final straw. Schools have zero right to keep secrets from mothers and fathers regarding their minor children's mental and emotional health.
While PPS leadership threatens to shutter neighborhood schools and cries about a $70 million deficit, they blow tens of millions on central office pet projects and administrative pay. Parents are waking up and speaking out together.
